PAOLA SCARCELLA MD, PhD Born in Rome, Italy, 07.09.1961 Position: Senior Researcher. Qualification October 1987: Medical Degree, at UCSC of Rome; July 1991: Specialization in Hygiene and Public Health, UCSC of Rome; 1997: PhD in Epidemiology and Microbiology, University of Rome “La Sapienza”:
Since 2004 Researcher (MED/42) in the Public Health Dept (Now Biomedicine and Prevention Department) of University of Rome “Tor Vergata”.
Since 1996 she has been collaborating on the teaching and research activities of the Chair of Hygiene at LUMSA University in Rome.
Since 2003 she has been participating in the activities of the DREAM (Drug Resources Enhancement against AIDS and Malnutrition) programme (promoted by the NGO "Community of Sant'Egidio-ACAP), a programme for treating AIDS in Africa, set up in 2001 and active in 10 African countries. Within the DREAM programme she has been teaching in several training courses (accredited by the program of Continuing Medical Education of the Italian Ministry of Health) for African health personnel.
She is co- author of 140 Italian and/or English scientific papers: 66 published in national and international journals, others presented at national and international congresses.
