Dr. Federico Tacconi
Dr. Federico Tacconi obtained his medical degree cum laude in July 2001 at the Tor Vergata University. In October 2006, he completed his residency in Thoracic Surgery at the same institution, where he was subsequently appointed as an Assistant Professor in Thoracic Surgery (October 2008). Between September 2011 and April 2012, he passed the United States Medical Licence Basic Science ® and Clinical Knowledge ® exams. In 2013, he obtained the eligibility to Associate Professor position, awarded by the Italian Ministry of University and Scientific Research.
He obtained higher surgical training at several high reputation international centres: Leuven University Hospital, Belgium (May-September 2008), Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, Exeter, UK (April-September 2013), St. George’s University Hospital, London, UK (May-August 2016), Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, UK (August 2016-August 2017), and Bristol Royal Infirmary, UK (August 2017-present).
He authored and co-authored more than 30 publications in peer-reviewed, international journals with an H-index of 14, and held several oral presentations at international meetings. He serves as guest reviewer to several international journals, including the European Journal of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Interactive Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, Thoracic Cancer, Journal of Thoracic Disease, and others.
His main fields of interest are: minimally-invasive surgery in thoracic oncology, surgical management of chest trauma, quality improvement in thoracic surgery, and education.
